Behind the Story

Christine Linen Goss was a servant of the Jesus Christ and a beloved figure in the surrounding areas of Georgetown County, SC. Her life was a testament to the power of education, community service, and a relentless passion for nurturing young minds. Born and raised in Nesmith, SC, Christine graduated from Battery Park High School in 1971, marking the beginning of her lifelong journey in education and community involvement. After high school, Christine attended Allen University in Columbia, SC. It was there that she became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an organization that embodied the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service that she held dear. On May 5, 1979, Christine graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, equipped with the knowledge and determination to make a difference in the lives of children. Christine began her teaching career at Brown's Ferry Elementary, where she dedicated herself to the education and well-being of her students. For years, she inspired countless young minds, fostering a love for learning and encouraging them to reach their full potential. Her impact as an educator was profound, and her commitment unwavering, until she retired in 2014. However, retirement did not mark the end of Christine's dedication to children. In 2005, she started working with Mama's Little Kid, Inc. (MLK), a program that later evolved into the Teen After School Center (TASC). Through TASC, Christine continued to do what she loved most—working with children. She played a pivotal role in providing a safe and supportive environment for elementary and teenagers, helping them navigate the challenges of learning and guiding them toward a brighter future. Christine Linen Goss's legacy is one of selfless service, unwavering dedication, and a deep-rooted passion for education. Her life's work has left an indelible mark on the community of Georgetown County and beyond. Through the CLG Foundation, we honor her memory by continuing her mission of empowering and supporting not only young people but all of South Carolina, ensuring that her spirit of compassion and commitment lives on in the hearts and minds of future generations. Christine's story is a beacon of inspiration, reminding us all of the profound impact one dedicated individual can have on the lives of many. Her legacy continues to inspire and guide the CLG Foundation's efforts in creating opportunities and nurturing the potential of young scholars and artists.
